The four-year program, dubbed Thinkfarm, includes a co-ordinator working on resources for new farmers. It also offers a guidebook, resource fact sheets and a website as a "one-stop location for all information".

The current situation indicates an improvement but with 27 percent of the population still in crisis the needs remain very significant. 26.08.2010 USA - Warning issued on blood born disease in horses North Carolina’s Department of Agriculture has issued a warning that cases of Equine Piroplasmosis have been recently found in North Carolina. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture reports 11 cases of the blood born illness in four farms across the state. North Carolina joined 19 other states reporting cases of the disease, which was eradicated in North Carolina in 1988. The disease is caused by a blood born parasite and is generally passed by ticks or by needles.
25.08.2010 Canada - BIXS cattle ID system soon to go live After extensive beta-testing by computer-savvy ranchers this summer, the online record-keeping system called the BIXS, or Beef InfoXchange System, will be ready for launch for the cow-calf sector by September of this year. Along with the early adopters will be program partners such as members of the Beef Breeds Council, participants in the Pfizer Gold program, and the Canadian Angus Association, which will submit the contents of their databases into the system the instant it goes live.

25.08.2010 India - Himachal installs anti-hail guns to protect fruit crop Himachal Pradesh has installed anti-hail guns, the first in the country, to protect its fruit crops from hailstorms. Three anti-hails have been installed in fruit-growing belts of Shimla district under a pilot project. More guns would be installed in other areas if the project is successful. A radar has been installed at Tumdoo, located at an altitude of 10,000 feet near Khadapathar, while three hail guns have been set up in Jubbal, Kotkhai and Rohru areas.
