08.12.2011 MunichRe - New insurance solutions to protect states particularly vulnarable to climate change Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment has approved funding for a unique project that will develop insurance solutions in Caribbean states particularly vulnerable to climate change. The objective is to protect small farmers and day labourers from losing their livelihoods due to the impact of a hurricane or a flood by offering microinsurance and other risk transfer solutions linked with disaster risk reduction and risk management.
22.03.2011 Insurance company ROSNO paid out 318,7 million RUR on agricultural insurance contracts in 2010 Insurance company ROSNO analyzed results of agricultural insurance activities in 2010. Last year was difficult due to unfavorable weather. Many farms experienced losses. The total sum of payouts equaled 318,7 million RUR or 11,3 million USD. Most payouts were paid on the crop insurance contracts – 314 million RUR. The bigger share of payments was done to farms in Saratov, Volgograd and Nizhniy Novgorod regions.
